Tim Wander – A talk on “The Birth of Broadcasting“
After 2 lectures around the area already today, Tim came along to our meeting and gave an excellent talk on, as the title says The Birth of Radio. You can tell Tim has a real passion for his subjects as he is very good at getting the story across, while making it interesting and very informative.
Tim covered from the very earliest days of Radio transmission right the way up through the two World Wars and up to modern times. From Marconi, who, interestingly was not at all interested in voice transmission, through to the forming of the British Broadcasting Company and how instrumental ex Marconi employees were to its initial growth.
Next time we are lucky enough to get Tim in to give us a talk on one of his subjects, I would make sure you keep your diary clear and get along.
