Steve Shorey (G3ZPS) “Public Safety Comms”

Steve gave a very interesting talk on the evolution of Public Safety Communications, mainly as applied to the Police. He started with Robert Peel, and the rattles that the early constables were supplied with to call for help. Don’t think I would like to rely on one of them to summon support – although it looked heavy enough to double as a defensive weapon.

He then followed all the changes through to the present day. The pictures of the early Police Radio Cars were an eye opener. Don’t think that they would have been any good in one of today’s high speed pursuits.

A very good and informative evening.
